In our house we eat a lot of grilled chicken for dinner. I might buy pre-marinated chicken from the store, but usually, I’m mixing my own herbs and spices. My son has named the different chicken dishes: Mommy Chicken No. 1, Mommy Chicken No. 2 and so on.
Well, this summer, I invited him to create his own original chicken marinade recipes. This activity was a hit, and we’ll do it several more times this year, I’m sure. Basic Recipe
Ingredients:
1/3 cup spices and herbs
1/3 cup olive oil
1/3 cup water
Directions:
Whisk together all ingredients. Then, add chicken and let marinate at least 30 minutes. Then, grill!
Conner Chicken No. 1 Spice Blend
2 Tbsp. kosher salt
1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. granulated garlic
1 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
1 tsp. Penzeys Chili 3000
1 tsp. dried shallots
1/2 tsp. dried chives
Conner Chicken No. 2 Spice Blend
2 Tbsp. kosher salt
1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. granulated garlic
1 tsp. black and red pepper blend
1/2 tsp. Baja chicken seasoning
1/2 tsp. Penzeys Sunny Spain
1/2 tsp. paprika
Dash of crushed red chili pepper
Dash of dried chives
Dash of adobo
Dash of chili powder
Dash of Penzeys Ozark seasoning
